OGII LAKE is a freshwater lake in eastern Arkhangai, in central Mongolia. It is known for its fish and for birdlife. It is a stopover point for migrating waterbirds of the family Anatidae. Almost half the lake is less than 3 m deep.
There are several ger tourist camps around the lake.
KHARKHORIN - ancient capital of the Mongolian Unified Empire back to the XIII century and Erdene Zuu Monastery, a monastery built back in 1586 using not a single nail.
TUVKHUN MONASTERY - A SMALL 2 HOURS TREK - One of most beautiful monastery complex is situated on a forested rocky mountain, on the boarder of Uvurhangai and Arhangai provinces.
Enlightened Bogd Gegeen Zanabazar chose the place to build a monastery in 1648, when he was 14 years old. The construction of the monastery started in 1651.
ORKHON WATER FALL - falls from a height of 20 meters at Orkhon Waterfall, which is locally known as Ulaan Tsutgalan. The width of stream at the point where it forms the spectacular waterfall is 10 meters.
GOLD MINERS "NINJAS" - Ninja miner is a nickname for a person who digs small unauthorized mines or pans dirt for gold in Mongolia. The miners are so named because the green bowls they use for panning, when carried on their backs, are said to resemble the shells of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
GOBI DESERT - The Gobi desert, one of the world's great deserts, covers much of the southern part of Mongolia. Unlike the Sahara there are few sand dunes in the Gobi; rather you'll find large barren expenses of gravel plains and rocky outcrops. The climate here is extreme. Temperatures reach +40° C. in summer, and -40 in winter. Precipitation averages less than 100 mm per year, while some areas only get rain once every two or three years. It contains the last remaining wild Bactrian (two-humped) camels, wild ass, and a small population of Gobi bears, the only desert-inhabiting bear.
PREWALSKI HORSES - Khustain Nuruu (Birch mountain) Nature Reserve. The nature reserve is a mountain where wild Prejevalsky horses are being re-introduced. You can have a guided tour in the mountains and get acquanted with the horse preserving project.
